Healthcare

Nestled at 10,152 feet of elevation in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, St. Vincent General Hospital is known as the highest hospital in North America’s highest city of Leadville, Colorado. St. Vincent is a Critical Access Hospital that provides general medical services for a wide variety of acute illnesses, as well as emergency, laboratory and imaging services.

In October 2018, St. Vincent Hospital and Centura Health plan to open a new hospital facility with a shared vision of health care delivered locally. Groundbreaking occurred on March 27, 2017. This vision includes a new hospital facility that supports the delivery of high-quality health services. The new facility will prioritize patient care, varied health services, integration of technology and planning for the future. At the core of every discussion about the new facility is the patient—and a building design that promotes caring, healing and wellness. The design of the new facility supports the concept of collaborative care. Open work-spaces promote collaboration and communication. At the heart of the new facility is a wellness atrium and central registration. From the atrium a patient will be steps away from radiology, laboratory, physical therapy, the primary care clinic, specialty clinics and the emergency room.
