Why Lake County?
Perhaps you’ve heard of our neighbors: Vail, Breckenridge, Aspen and Salida? How about Leadville and Twin Lakes?
Leadville and Lake County is the logical location for business starts or relocation in Colorado’s Central Mountain region. We are less than a half hour drive off of the I-70 corridor, with access to both Summit and Eagle County and less than a 2 hour drive to downtown Denver. We are a growing community of 8,200 full time residents and offer some of the most incredible access to outdoor recreation that can be found anywhere in the United Sates. We have the most affordable housing in the region, combined with innovative schools, redundant fiberoptic networks and abundant land for investment.
We also have access to 500,000 people within a one-hour drive (on winter and summer weekends) and nearly 3 million within two hours. Our back yard includes 190,000 acres of forest, mountains, rivers, trails and wilderness that allow you to get away within minutes. If you want access to everything, while still feeling like you’re next to no one, we’re your place.
So why haven’t you heard of us before? Its probable due to our history, as a wild-west mining town, where people like Doc Holiday fought his last gun battle. You see, as the town that mined more silver than any other in Colorado, we didn’t have a thriving tourist economy until recently, when we started to be known for things like the tallest mountains in the state, gold-medal trout fishing waters and our 100-mile-long endurance running and biking races. As the highest incorporated city in North America, we’re not for everyone, but for the right people, this might just be heaven.
