Emergency Preparedness for Businesses

Did you know the towns of Salida and Poncha Springs were without natural gas for a multiple days last week? Were you aware, our local Safeway was shut down last week because of a gas leak? With the recent impacts on Leadville and surrounding area, we would like to encourage any business owners or staff to attend the LLC EDC’s “Emergency Preparedness for Businesses” workshop. We will be discussing many unforeseeable situations and how to respond efficiently.

Businesses and their staff face a variety of hazards:

  • Natural hazards like floods and fires

  • Health hazards such as widespread and serious illnesses like the flu or death

  • Human-caused hazards including accidents and acts of violence

  • Technology-related hazards like power outages and equipment failure

The Emergency Preparedness for Businesses workshop will help businesses start a preparedness plan to deal with these types of hazards.
